Phoenix, AZ – As Black leaders from every corner of the state, we stand in unwavering and unapologetic support of Robert Branscomb, who made history as the first African American ever elected to lead the Arizona Democratic Party. Mr. Branscomb was overwhelmingly elected by the grassroots and party state committeeman, a resounding mandate from Arizonans ready for bold, visionary leadership.
Let us be clear, Mr. Branscomb has been actively involved with the AZ Democratic party for many years. He ascended to this elected position without the benefit of support, resources, or transitional assistance from the prior party leadership. That absence of institutional backing underscores the challenges he has already had to confront. Yet, Mr. Branscomb has confronted these challenges with dignity, focus, and determination. He has rolled up his sleeves and gone to work — rebuilding, reconnecting, and refocusing the Party’s mission for victory.
This is a turning point for Arizona Democrats. And we are publicly calling on all statewide elected Democratic officials to meet this moment with unity and collaboration. The future of this state — and the Democratic Party’s relevance in it — depends on our ability to coalesce around leadership that is rooted in equity, strategy, and results. We need to provide Robert Branscomb with the support and resources he needs to do the job he was elected to do.
Robert Branscomb has a plan — a real, executable, forward-thinking plan — to help AZ Democratics win in 2026. This year is not just another election cycle. It is an opportunity to consolidate and expand power across the state. It is also an opportunity to engage communities that have too often been marginalized and to deliver real change for working families, young voters, and communities of color.
We reject any attempts to undermine or sideline this leadership. We will not sit idly by when new, diverse leadership is met with resistance under the guise of “tradition”. This is 2025. The Democratic Party must reflect the full strength, talent, and vision of Arizona’s people. Otherwise, we will continue to lose ground in a rapidly shifting political landscape.
As Black leaders in Arizona, we are watching. We are mobilized. And we are prepared to stand firmly beside Mr. Branscomb. We know what he represents, and we know what he is prepared to do!
It is time to create a new Democratic era in Arizona. Our Arizona Democratic Party must change direction for this new era to become reality. Robert Branscomb is a change agent. He was overwhelmingly elected because of his vision and energy. We know that a strong and unified Democratic Party is good for Arizona, and we are confident that Mr. Branscomb is the leader who will help us reach all our goals. With all of us working together, 2026 will not be a repeat of the past!
