Special to the Arizona Informant

Black History month offers some people an opportunity to explore information that they normally do not think about. For the millions of Black people that live Black history each day , it is an opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage of Black Americans. Earlier this month, former South Phoenix Justice of the Peace and former Phoenix City Councilman Cody Williams visited with students at the Steer school to share some Black history and encourage them to follow their dreams.
Williams, born and raised in the valley, has generational ties to South Phoenix and has a genuine concern for the youth in the area. He encouraged the students to become better servant leaders. He shared with the students that there are various opportunities for them to succeed. They should not be focused only on sports and entertainment but also, other jobs. He gave an example of working in the court system. “There are tremendous opportunities within the courts.”
Judge Williams shared with the students that there are ten basic things to remember
#1 – Your Privilege to Drive Can Cost You Your Ride if you don’t follow the rules of the road!
