A Bold New Stage Production returns ” Poetry is Life aka Know thyself Love thyself” 

Phoenix, AZ — Saturday May 30th 2026  — Theatergoers are invited to experience an unforgettable evening of drama, intrigue, forbidden history, emotional depth and live music with the return of “Poetry is Life”  set to debut at Phoenix College’s John Paul Theatre 7pm May 30th 2026.

Written and directed by Tarvis El & Mike “Baba” Ware “Poetry is Life”  explores the fragile intersections of relationships, ancient records of the past, Nationality, the legal system, Agendas of the Public Educational system. and restoring true balance of Men and Women.  The play presents flashbacks of the life of Mike Ware, a former 1970’s Black radical, who became a well known poet within local circles of Baltimore and Phoenix.. The theme of the play, Mike Waree stands at the gates of Heaven and proves his case to God. 

“This production is about doing what’s right when no one is looking” said  Mike “Baba Ware. “It challenges audiences to reflect on what has become acceptable as opposed to what is truthful” Says the  seventy-five year old Poet. 

The cast features a dynamic ensemble of local performers, including MysticBlu , Raymond Rouge, Anita Michelle, Alicia Stewert, Christian Xavier Shaw, JoanDrea Renyolds, Spencer Lewis, Keith Crenshaw,  Raymond Prince, Sandra Salazar, Jennefer Kelly, Lakisha “Meku”, D Bowden, Larry Arnold and vocalist Cree Turner. Live music by Andre B brewer and Level 9 Entertainment.  Their compelling portrayals of historical figures, include powerful music  bring depth and authenticity to the story. “Poetry is Life”  promises a powerful theatrical experience.The show will only run one day, one show. Saturday May 30th 2026 Phoenix College’s John Paul theatre 7pm doors open.
