The Judge Jean Williams Community Service Award 

at the 2026 Multicultural / Black History Celebration 

Theme: “Black History is Every Month” 

Peoria, AZ – The Northwest Black History Committee and Vibrant Community proudly announce the 2026 Multicultural / Black History Celebration, honoring the legacy of Judge Jean Williams, the first African American woman appointed as a judge in Arizona. The Judge Jean Williams Community Service (JJWCS) Award recognizes distinguished men and women whose exceptional service and achievements advance the cause of equal access to justice. This year’s honoree is Kevin Robinson, whose leadership, commitment, and dedication exemplify the spirit of community service and justice that Judge Williams embodied. The JJWCS Award will be presented at this event March 7th at Centennial Plaza Park in Peoria. 

Past JJWCS Award recipients include community leaders Kim Covington, Steve Irvin, Carole Cole Henry, Lanette Campbell, and others who have made lasting contributions to equality and civic engagement. 

This free community event will take place at Centennial Plaza Park and promises a vibrant celebration of culture, unity, and creativity. Attendees will enjoy a variety of artistic expressions,featuring over 50 artists and youth groups, along with performances by New Destiny Band, Shari Rowe, and national recording artists Windy City Spiritualaires from Chicago. Vibrant Community is supported in part by an Arts and Culture grant from the City of Peoria. 

At Vibrant Community, we believe music can play a part in healing fear and division in our country. Our Multicultural Festival unites top bands from the valley, showcasing diverse genres like country, Latin, gospel, and blues. Music bridges racial and political divides, creating a shared experience everyone can appreciate. 

In addition to live performances, guests can explore local vendors, community and information stations, and engage with college and job recruiters offering valuable resources and connections.
