Washington, D.C. – Today, SquadBuck Consulting announced that veteran political strategist and communications leader Daniella Gibbs Léger will be joining the firm as a partner beginning in August. Léger most recently served as Executive Vice President for Communications and Strategy at the Center for American Progress, where she led organization-wide messaging, media relations, and strategic initiatives across communications channels.
SquadBuck has built a reputation for sharp, strategic work at the intersection of education, policy, and politics, partnering with advocacy organizations, mission-driven companies, and coalitions working to make public systems more just and equitable. Léger’s addition to the firm signals a bold new chapter, expanding SquadBuck’s issue expertise and deepening its communications and political strategy bench.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Daniella to the team,” said SquadBuck founder and partner Ruthanne Buck. “She brings decades of experience at the highest levels of government, media, and progressive advocacy, and her fluency across issue areas—criminal justice, immigration, gender justice, democracy, and more—will help us support clients navigating today’s most urgent and complex challenges.”
Léger’s career spans senior roles in the Obama White House, the Democratic National Committee, and multiple national advocacy campaigns. She is a frequent media commentator who is known for her clear-eyed analysis, strategic insights, and wide-ranging expertise, from policy and electoral dynamics to the culture and values that shape them.
“I’ve long admired the work SquadBuck does, and I’m thrilled to be joining a team I respect so deeply,” said Léger. “This is a moment that demands sharp strategy, courageous communications, and coalition-building across movements. I’m excited to help build what comes next.”
